How old is Stella Kidd on Chicago Fire?

Stella Kidd (Miranda Rae Mayo) has had quite an arc on Chicago Fire. While she initially started out as a headstrong member of the 51, she’s matured to the point of being able to lead the firehouse alongside her husband, Severide (Taylor Kinney).

Well, at least, when he’s around. Kidd endured some emotional struggles in season 11, especially when she found out that her husband had been withholding information from her while he was away at arson investigation training. With their relationship poised to be a big talking point in season 12, we decided to break down Kidd’s age in relation to Severide.

How old is Miranda Rae Mayo on Chicago Fire?

Kidd is one of the characters on the show who adheres to the classic show rule of being the same age as the actor. This is the default stance for writers, so that actors don’t have to worry about the issues of playing someone significantly younger or older than they actually are.

Miranda Rae Mayo was born on August 14, 1990, which means she’s 32 years old. By that same logic, Kidd is also 32. This makes the character roughly a decade younger than her onscreen beau, Severide, who’s 42. Mayo recently spoke on her character’s maturation during an interview with CinemaBlend. She noted that there have been some major changes, and that season 12 is poised to offer even more chances for growth, both personally and professionally.

“I’m very excited to see Stella’s journey in agreeing and saying ‘Yes, I do want to show up fully as a leader in my community,’ and trusting that she can”, Mayo noted. “I just look forward to watching Stella let herself win. I think that she is a character who as a firefighter, as a woman, she has experienced so much resistance and so much adversity on her way up.” While the jury is still out on whether Stellaride will stay together, we hope that there will be plenty of interesting stories involving both characters moving forward.
