Is LA Fire & Rescue connected to Chicago Fire?

LA Fire & Rescue is the new show from producer Dick Wolf, which is naturally leading some fans to draw comparisons between it and Wolf’s other firefighter show, Chicago Fire. Some of the Chicago Fire cast members have even helped to promote LA Fire & Rescue, drawing these two even closer together in the eyes of the public.

Given that Dick Wolf likes to set most of his scripted dramas in the same universe, there may be an assumption that LA Fire & Rescue will be sharing a timeline with Fire, Chicago PD, and Chicago Med. Unfortunately, this will not be the case.

Is LA Fire & Rescue part of One Chicago?

LA Fire & Rescue is a documentary series that explores the lives of real firefighters in the greater Los Angeles area. It will follow various firefighters on the job, and painstakingly detail the tough situations they’re regularly placed in.

it’s a logical next step for Wolf, who has spent decades dramatizing the real-life work of cops and firefighters, and often calling upon these real-life workers to ensure the authenticity of a given episode. Chicago Fire, for example, is praised for its accuracy and grounded depiction of how firefighters would handle certain calls.

David Eigenberg, who plays Herrmann on Chicago Fire, praised the rawness of LA Fire & Rescue during a recent interview with TV Line. “We can’t show certain stuff, and these guys are going to,” he noted. “And you’re going to see some stuff that is going to show the best in humanity and all these men and women.”

The admiration goes both ways. Captain Dan Olivas, who has been in charge of Station 16 in Watts for 18 years, and who will star on LA Fire & Rescue, admits to being a longtime fan of Chicago Fire. “There’s guys out there that watch Chicago Fire. I’m one of them,” he revealed. “It’s exciting. I like what they do. It’s a very good show. I like the chief.”
