If you’ve been a long-time fan of Law & Order, you’re surely aware that the network frequently takes an extended sabbatical after the start of each new season, which spans from September to May each year.
As a result, the upcoming season, like its predecessors, will take a temporary pause. Furthermore, the final episode of the 22nd season recently aired, ruling off any possibility of a return in June 2023 or throughout the summer season.
Even if this is a depressing post, we have some other updates that will brighten your day! Despite not being on NBC’s summer schedule, the series will be back sooner than you think! Yes, there are only a few months until the beloved crime drama returns with fresh episodes later this year. The 23rd season will be part of the fall broadcast lineup in 2023-2024, with the creators hoping for a September release date.
The new episodes will premiere every Thursday at 8/7c on NBC and the following day on Peacock. It will feature the series’ 500th episode, as well as Season 25 of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit and Season 4 of Law & Order: Organised Crime. We would also like to emphasise that the ongoing writer’s strike may also play a role in changing the release date if it is not resolved soon, which may cause production to be delayed if the scripts are not completed.
Until then, we’ll have to wait and see what direction the authors and team take moving ahead. Because everything appears to be going according to plan right now. Furthermore, the official Law & Order Twitter account confirmed the release date, saying,“Thanks for joining us for an exceptional season finale! #LawAndOrder and #SVU return Thursdays this fall and #OrganizedCrime returns in 2024 only on @nbc and streaming on @peacock.”
