However, not much is revealed about the What We Do in the Shadows season 5 story, and most of the trailer is focused on the gags.

What We Do In The Shadows Season 5 Story Details

A party in What We Do In The Shadows

There have not been What We Do In The Shadows season 5 updates concerning the story. However, the end of season 4 teed up the next part of the story. Colin Robinson has now returned to his adult form and regained the memories he had before he was reborn as a child. However, by regaining his memories, Colin has finished his season-long transformation and forgotten how Laszlo spent the entirety of season 4 raising him like a son. Laszlo was saddened by this turn of events, and season 5 could focus on Laszlo attempting to rekindle a relationship with Colin, which would lead to comic scenes of Colin’s confusion.

Nadja’s constant ambition to be in charge and create something worthwhile has been a constant storyline for the female vampire. She has taken over the local Vampiric Council, ascended to the Worldwide Vampire Council, and owned and operated a vampire nightclub. Season 5 could see The Guide and Nadja working together on a new venture. The most significant storyline that is sure to be developed came at the very end of season 4 when Guillermo, tired of Nandor's rejections, approached another vampire, Derek, and offered to pay him to turn him into a vampire.

Characters Who Could Have Bigger Roles In What We Do In The Shadows Season 5

Wallace in What We Do in the Shadows.

What We Do in the Shadows has a large cast, including one-off characters who appear for only an episode or two, often played by talented and memorable actors. There are a handful of characters in What We Do in the Shadows who only appeared briefly but deserve more screen time in season 5. Wallace (Benedict Wong), Lilith (Lucy Punch), Evie Russell (Vanessa Bayer), Jim The Vampire (Mark Hamill), and Jenna (Beanie Feldstein) are all popular characters who appeared in the past and offered new insights into the main characters and gave the show a chance to occasionally depart from its main storyline.

Many of these characters have notable relationships with the main cast, like Lilith, who is Nadja’s mortal enemy and could easily slip back into the story. If the main vampires are frustrated with Guillermo for becoming a vampire, the former familiar could also be on the lookout for new friends in the magical world of What We Do in the Shadows.

What We Do In The Shadows Season Renewed For Season 6 Too

Before season 4 was even released, FX announced What We Do in the Shadows was renewed for not only season 5, but season 6 as well. It’s not a surprise that the series has been renewed considering its massive success, with a fan base ready for more mythological hijinks from the vampire characters. Rather than stabilizing, What We Do in the Shadows season 5 updates appears to be getting better with each successive season, with seasons 3 and 4 both earning a 100% score on Rotten Tomatoes. FX clearly has significant confidence in What We Do In The Shadows and will continue producing at least for the near future.

What We Do In The Shadows Season 5 Trailer

Guillermo asking to be made a vampire in What We Do in the Shadows season 5

The What We Do in the Shadows season 5 trailer has finally been released, and the humor is typically in keeping with the previous seasons, as it sees Nandor, Nadja, Lazlo, Guillermo, and Colin acting totally socially inept, as usual. The trailer is full of some of the series' most ambitious gags, such as Nandor visiting a basketball game and walking out onto the court mid-game. A police chase is teased too, though it isn't clear which characters are involved. Lazlo visits a mall for the first time where he finds the store Bikini Warehouse, which he thinks is a "front for a brothel."

Other gags in the What We Do in the Shadows season 5 trailer include Nandor trying to buy items from a store with a "coupon," which is actually a cardboard cutout of Ryan Seacrest, and he appears on the evening news too. While little is given away about the season 5 story, Guillermo's story arc is teased. Guillermo has finally been bitten and is turning into a vampire, but it has been 16 days since the bite and he doesn't feel any different. Whether or not Guillermo goes through with the transformation is a burning question fans have for WWDITS season 5, and it could have major consequences.
