Do Meredith and Nick end up together in Grey’s Anatomy season 19? (spoilers)

 The day has finally come, Netflix Lifers. Grey’s Anatomy season 19 is now available to stream on Netflix after last airing on ABC in May 2023. As expected, a lot happens in the nineteenth season, but what everyone wants to know is if Meredith and Nick end up together. No worries. We shared whether or not they end the season as a couple below.

Meredith and Nick meet in Grey’s Anatomy season 14 episode 17, when Nick comes to Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital to pick up an organ for a long-time patient in need of a transplant. Meredith approaches Nick, and Nick explains to her why he came to the hospital in the first place. But then he collapses mid-conversation. Nick had recently had a kidney transplant but went back to work too early. He fainted because he hadn’t fully recovered.

While running tests, Meredith and Nick flirt and basically hit it off. After discovering the real reason why Nick fainted, Meredith rushes him into surgery which ends up going well. But even though sparks were flying between the two, they don’t get together until four seasons later.

However, their relationship is left in a weird place in the season 18 finale when Meredith tells Nick to go back to Minnesota. After Nick leaves, Meredith runs after him, but by then he is gone. Things between them become even rockier in Grey’s Anatomy season 19 when Meredith decides to up and leave Seattle for Boston. So, what does Meredith’s move mean for her relationship with Nick? Do they work through their problems and end up together at the end of the nineteenth season? Or do they decide to part ways for good?

Do Meredith and Nick end up together in Grey’s Anatomy season 19?

Yes, Meredith and Nick end up together at the end of the season. When Meredith leaves Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital to move to Boston for a job opportunity and so that her daughter can attend a good STEM school in the seventh episode of the season, her relationship with Nick is not in a good state. All episode, Nick had been struggling with Meredith’s decision to move and what it would mean for the future of their relationship.

Meredith explains to Nick how important it is for her to make the move and how she wants him to be in her life, but she’s not going to beg him to love her. She tells him, “I want you in my life if you want to be in my life. But if I have to choose, I’m going to pick me, I pick my kids, and I pick what’s best for us, and I’m not going to beg you to love me.” Then, she walks away.

Later, as Meredith and her kids board the plane to Boston, Nick calls her and confesses his love. But Meredith pretends the call is breaking up and tells him she’ll call him back once she lands in Boston. Meredith doesn’t return to the show until the season 19 finale.

In the season 19 finale, Nick and more of the Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital staff travel to Boston for the Catherine Fox Awards, which is where Nick is finally reunited with Meredith. However, before the awards, Nick had gone to Meredith’s house to see her but a man answered the door. Nick had thought Meredith moved on with someone new.

After the award ceremony ends, Meredith goes to Nick’s hotel room and tries to deliver a letter but is stopped by Nick in the hallway. She admits that she pretended not to hear him say he loves her on the phone because she thought that was the right thing to do at the moment. She wanted to focus on her kids instead. However, she tells Nick that she did miss him.

Nick mentions to Meredith that he visited her house and was greeted by a man. Meredith replies by saying that the man was Michael, Zola’s tutor. Nick then expresses his love to Meredith again and pretty much tells her he wants to spend the rest of his life with her. She responds, “Well, okay then” before they passionately kiss.

So there you have it, folks! Meredith and Nick end up together at the end of Grey’s Anatomy season 19. It’ll be interesting to see how Meredith and Nick continue their relationship with Nick in Seattle and Meredith in Boston.
